I used to hate reading. Now I'm kind of obsessed. When someone tells you to do something, traditionally there is some friction there. If it is up to you to choose to read, then the narrative is entirely different.
Take an assignment for instance — does that sound fun? Assignment as a word just kind of sucks. Its once you start to see what reading can do for your personal growth do you realize how great it is.
Books are essentially someone else's findings, life experiences, research etc compacted into one big digestible glob of text. Sure that glob of text can take a minute to read… But you're hacking the system.
You're not going out and trying to learn on your own without context. If you read a book on marketing, you don't have to go try everything that person knew not to try. If you are reading a book about working remote, you get to understand all the best practices of what to do / what not to do.
Consumption of knowledge is something that I have become obsessed with — I am addicted. I have a podcast going while I shower, I listen to audible while I make my coffee and perform my morning routine (more on that later), and I read a book or two a week.
Find some books that actually interest you. Start with easy ones, and don't beat yourself up if you don't read it cover to cover.
